One day last week, i was feeling a bit ‘meh’. The house was a mess, my back was hurting, and it was a busy week at work. Then, my darling husband spoke the magic words “why don’t you go and buy yourself a stamp!”. 😀 Lets just say he didn’t have to say THAT twice! I few days later i had some HaPPYMaIL!!
Of course, deciding between Lawn Fawn and Mama Elephant would be like choosing which child you loved the best, so i bought both! heehee!
For my first crafty adventure with my new stash, I delved into the Unicorns & Rainbows stamp set to make a shaker card. I kept the colours muted and soft – its a bit hard to see it properly in the video. The photos are better, but in real life it is even prettier! I don’t know why i don’t use soft colours more often???
I even incorporated a little paper piecing so my unicorn would have a pair or pretty wings! Cute huh?
I used watercolour cardstock and coloured my images using watercolour paint. To be honest these images are so small i didn’t even have to mix new colours, i just reactivated some dry paint that was on the palette! Simples!
I hope you enjoy the video – i certainly had fun playing with my new treat! Thanks Craigybear! love you, and i love that you know i love stamps. xx
A little while ago i shared a video of a card that i made for Cat that featured a kitty that i had hand drawn, inked and water coloured. You may remember that i had drowns two kitties, so i decided to make use of the second one for today’s card.
And if you have been following my craftiness, you will know that i am a sucker for a good pun (and maybe even some bad ones!! heehee). And what better stamp set to make my own than Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABCs. Love this set! I love that they are close cut so you can stamp a whole word in one go, and i love that they are skinny so you can fit longer words and greetings on there too!
I haven’t included the water colouring of the kitty in today’s video, but in case you were wondering, i used the Kuretaki Gansai Tambi watercolour set.
Whats this? A mid week post?! goodness me – there must be a disturbance in the force!
Nah, no disturbance, just some extra cards to share this week. 🙂
For the last few weeks i have been playing with my watercolours and practising my hand lettering lettering, using both brushes and pens. I have found some awesome challenges on Instagram which are really inspiring, and help keep the motivation up. If you want to check it out, you can see my feed over at my Instagram page.
I can say that i am now feeling a lot more confident about my hand lettering – and i am really enjoying the journey.
I decided to merge my card making passion with a little hand lettering in this valentine’s card. It’s not really a particularly difficult card, but it gives such a lovely soft result in the end, so i wanted to share it with you. The best part about watercolours is that you don’t need expensive paints to get a lovely result (although i admit that splashing on a little watercolour cardstock will yield the best rewards!
Here’s the video… enjoy… and i might just have another video or two to share before the week is out!
